A Sunday Reflection : Calling From China!

August 25th, 2010

by Fr. Marshall

Yes! I am in China…don’t ask in which part of China.

What am I doing here??…holidaying? Getting distressed? Work Related?… I just don’t know and I am thoroughly confused!!

Some parishioners (about 25) took up a collection to give me a short holiday because of the Year of Priests.

THANK YOU TO ALL CONCERNED FOR YOUR GENEROUSITY & THOUGHTFULNESS!

Personally I am too lazy to travel unnecessarily, so please pray that we all have a safe and pleasant time and that we learn something too, especially that I learn something… Thanks & GodBless!… †

Transfer Of Priests

August 25th, 2010

Bishop announced the transfer of priests on 18 Aug 2010 at the end of the priests’ monthly recollection in Stella Maris.

The transfer of priests in Penang come after consulting the priests concerned to see the pros and cons. Bishop brought his list of the transfer to the Council of Priests meeting on 16 Aug 2010. After long discussion and seeing to some details some proposals/changes were tabled and accepted by both the Council of Priests and the Bishop.

The amended transfer list was tabled at the meeting of the College of Consultors on 17 Aug 2010. Some fine turning was done to the list and the list of transfers was unanimously accepted by the College of Consultors. Bishop is the president of the consultors.

The transfer is NOT just the wish and plan of the Bishop alone. We the Council of Priests gave him the onus to do the ground work of meeting the priests involved. He did his homework from March till the first few days of August. He had all the time to give serious thought to his transfer plan. The Councilors studied his proposals and make some changes. The Councilors gave their views and accepted the list. The whole process was a team (Bishop and priests) effort. The whole procedure followed the requirement of Canon Law.

The transfer would be effective in October. We have to be in our “new” parished by 1st Nov 2010.
